Sub-Fields and Sharing Fields

SUB-FIELDS: A field is sometimes broken into smaller fields for use by younger teams, or for games with fewer players. To support this, mysoccerleague.com has a feature we call ":sub-fields."

To use this, you have to have the "parent" field already in the system. To create a sub-field, you can either edit an existing field or add a new one by going to Manage Fields. Whether editing or adding a field, you can select another of your league's fields in the "Sub-Field" box.

(Note that sub-fields can have sub-fields of their own)

Once this has been done, our system can detect field conflicts between a field and either one of its sub-fields or its parent field.

SHARED FIELDS: Fields are often used by other leagues. If the other league also uses mysoccerleague.com, we can better support these two leagues by sharing those fields, instead of each league having a separate field.

To use this, you have to notify Tech Support (go to Tech Support at the top of your home page). You will need to specify the other league involved and the field (or the fields if both leagues already have created separate fields) -- the sharing of fields can only be implemented by our support staff.

We will merge the two fields into one, which is shared by the two leagues. Any games or assignments already using either of the fields will end up attached to the survivor. See Merge Two Fields for more information.

Once this has been done, our system can detect field conflicts between games of the leagues using that field.

Note that both sub-field status and sharing leagues are show on your Manage Fields page.
